Why Square Lithium Batteries are Preferred for Forklift Batteries?

Advantages in Capacity and Cycle Life:

Lithium battery chemistries, including LFP, offer higher energy density compared to lead-acid batteries. QH Battery specifically chose lithium-ion technology due to its significantly higher energy density when compared to current lead-acid solutions. Our primary chemistry, lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4), provides a specific energy of approximately 110 watt-hours per kilogram, while lead-acid batteries offer only around 40 watt-hours per kilogram. As a result, our batteries weigh approximately one-third of their lead-acid counterparts with the same ampere-hour rating.

Cycle life is another crucial factor. Different battery chemistries are affected by the depth of discharge, with deeper discharge shortening the battery's lifespan. Our lithium-ion batteries can be safely discharged to 80% depth while still maintaining a long cycle life of over 3500 cycles. In comparison, lead-acid batteries experience a significant decrease in cycle life when discharged to 80%, offering only 1000-1500 cycles. This highlights that our batteries have a three times longer lifespan than lead-acid batteries under similar discharge conditions.

Unlike lead acid batteries, which suffer from voltage sag and capacity reduction, lithium-ion batteries provide a consistent voltage and power output throughout the discharge, ensuring optimal performance even when the battery charge is low. Additionally, our lithium-ion batteries are free from memory issues, allowing you to discharge and charge them at any point without any negative impact.
